Iran, Turkey warn of attempts targeting mutual ties

TEHRAN, Dec. 28 (MNA) – During a meeting between Iranian ambassador to Ankara and a Turkish delegation, the two sides stressed friendly ties, while warning against certain attempts aimed at undermining the two countries’ relations.

Leader of Turkey’s Felicity Party, Temel Karamollaoğlu, heading a delegation comprising a number of the party’s officials, held a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Ankara, Mohammad Ebrahim Taherianfard, at Iran’s Embassy in Ankara on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Karamollaoğlu commended the long-standing relations between the two countries as the guarantor of peace, stability and security across the region and the world.

The Turkish official warned against attempts at undermining the friendly ties between Iran and Turkey, saying his country is keeping a watchful eye on such developments.

“We believe that we should not focus on differences in opinions, rather make efforts to expand relations based on common views,” he stressed.

The Iranian ambassador, for his part, maintained that the best way for arriving at common stances is through constructive dialogues, understanding and developing mutual trust; “I am pleased to note that there have always been such constructive negotiations underway between Iran and Turkey on all issues of mutual interest,” he added.

Taherianfard further criticized the negative and biased media hype around the relations between the two countries, saying “media persons need to be careful not to play in the enemies’ ground, because ill-wishers are making every effort to create a sensational, negative atmosphere replete with fabricated news to keep our people apart so that they can reach their own objectives.”
